The first hour with Event Managr
Signing up is two fields, or one tap with Google. You do not have to describe your business to get in — the account names itself and you fix it later, because a setup wizard between somebody and the product is a reason to close the tab.
What a new account arrives with
A company, you as its owner, a starter set of inventory categories, four storage zones, a list of event types and a few ready-made roles. All of it is yours to rename, empty or replace — nothing in the product refers to any of it by name.
You also get 14 days of the whole product with no card. See plans and billing.
The shortest useful path
- Put your business details in. Settings → Business profile, then Finance for your currency and tax rate. These print on everything you send, so they are worth doing before you send anything.
- Add your stock. Start with the things you hire most. An item needs a name, a category, a unit and how many you own. See inventory.
- Take a booking. A customer, two dates and some lines. See bookings.
- Load it out and count it back in. That is where damage and loss get recorded, and where the numbers start being worth something. See loading and returns.
Moving off a spreadsheet
Do not type in a year of history. Put in what you own and start taking bookings from today; the history you need is the history the app writes from here on. An opening quantity per item is a perfectly good starting point, and a stock count in a month will correct it.
Getting around
The sidebar runs in the order of a working day — a booking is taken, a customer is looked up, a van is loaded, and only then does anybody count the shelf. Press Q anywhere to search across stock, bookings and customers at once. If a section is missing from your sidebar, the screens reference says what it takes to open it.
